In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. From early childhood on I was fascinated by film music, could memorize TV themes, watched musical movies with Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly and tried to create my own music on the guitar which my Grandpa gave me as a birthday present, and the recorder. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Toots Thielemans, Toots Thielemans Live This was the first Thielemans album I bought (in Vinyl), and which showed me what can be played on a chromatic harmonica. It opened my eyes and my ears for the world of Modern Jazz. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Mo - LI - Bop” It's my treatment of the Chinese folk song "Molihua", in which I reharmonized the melody, sped up the tempo and wrote a Beboppish new melody, similar to what Charlie Parker did with "How High The Moon". Great playing by my fellow musicians! What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Playing in front of our former German President Horst Köhler, performing at the Esplanade in Singapore with Jeremy Monteiro, but also the lady who was in my concert in a small cafe in Shanghai and said: "Your music makes me feel closer to God!" Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I want to play more in jazz festivals in the future.
