About Ingrid Laubrock

German-born creative improvising saxophonist Ingrid Laubrock moved to London and began her recording career on a 1994 album by singer Mônica Vasconcelos. Laubrock's first album as a leader, Who Is It?, was released by Candid in 1998. Recipient of a 2005 Rising Star nomination from the BBC Jazz Awards, Laubrock recorded extensively as both a leader and collaborator on the London jazz scene until moving to Brooklyn, where her first band was Paradoxical Frog, a collaborative trio featuring pianist Kris Davis and drummer Tyshawn Sorey. The saxophonist also joined the Tom Rainey Trio and formed her own band, Anti-House, a vehicle for her compositional as well as improvisational sides. Anti-House's eponymous debut album arrived on Intakt in 2010, followed by Strong Place in 2013 and Roulette of the Cradle in 2015, as Laubrock maintained a busy schedule with myriad additional performing and recording projects. ~ Dave Lynch
