About Green On Red
When the origins of the alt-country movement are discussed, Green On Red are too often absent from the conversation. The Tucson, Arizona outfit was one of the first underground bands to unabashedly embrace country music and other roots forms. Often associated with L.A.'s Paisley Underground scene of the mid 1980s, the band moved even further from the scene's neo-psychedelic sound after guitarist Chuck Prophet joined in 1984. Following a series of stellar recordings, Green On Red called it quits in 1992, as Prophet's solo career beckoned.
