About Giuseppi Logan
Reed player Guiseppi Logan is best known for his association with New York’s free jazz scene in the early '60s. Logan is sometimes considered technically limited as a player, but his instrumental diversity (he played alto and tenor saxophones, bass clarinet, flute, piano, and Pakistani oboe) and his adventurousness as a soloist earned him gigs with Pharoah Sanders, Archie Shepp, and Bill Dixon. Logan formed his own quintet and released two studio albums (1964’s THE GIUSEPPI LOGAN QUARTET and 1965’s MORE) and one live set (1965’s AT TOWN HALL), all three of which were full of bold free jazz explorations, and all released on the ESP label. Logan disappeared in the early '70s, but was discovered playing in New York's Tomkins Square Park in 2008. He began recording again in 2009.
