About Father Ray Kelly

Born in Tyrrellspass, County Meath, in April 1953, Irish priest Father Ray Kelly became a YouTube sensation in 2014 when a recording of his unique rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah," which he surprised a young couple with at their nuptials, went viral. Kelly was ordained in 1989 and did missionary work in South Africa during the early 1990s. He spent the ensuing years as an army chaplain in the United States and Northern Ireland, and in 2006 was appointed as parish priest in Oldcastle, County Meath. In 2014, as the result of his newfound internet fame, Kelly signed a management deal with Big Life Management, who represent a diverse group of artists including Scissor Sisters, London Grammar, and Boy George), and inked a deal with Universal Music. His debut album, Where I Belong, arrived later that December. ~ James Christopher Monger
