About Ed Sweeney

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My mother told me that when we went to church on Sunday as a baby, she never knew how I would be. If the church music was happy on Sunday, I was happy. But if the music was sad I would be crying. Some things never change (except the crying) What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Paul Pena, Paul Pena Pete Seeger, Strangers and Cousins: Songs from His World Tour (Live) Pierre Bensusan, Pres De Paris/Pierre Bensusan, Vol. 2 Paul Pena was the first person to teach me guitar. Pierre Bensusan's playing opened more voices of the guitar to me. Pete Seeger's Strangers & Cousins is one of the best live recordings ever. You feel that you are part of the audience. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Jolly Old St. Nicholas” I met Carol Keig (Appalachian Dulcimer) when I was an instructor at the Eel River Music Camp. We worked out this arrangement one night in my kitchen then recorded it in the studio. It was so much fun. I can still feel the smiles we had recording. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? There were two weeks where my recording was the top choice in USA Today, Boston Globe, Boston Herald, Washington Post, New York Daily News and many other publications. It was surreal to be interviewed on the phone while changing diapers. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I would like to play a concert is all 50 states. I have performed in 40 states, Canada and Taiwan. There are 10 states I have yet to do a concert.
