About Delon

Best known as the runner up on the television reality talent show Indonesian Idol, Delon (born Stanislaus Alexander Liauw Delon Thamrin on May 20, 1978 in Jakarta) was many things before becoming a pop star, but a musician wasn't necessarily one of them. An English degree holder, Delon worked a number of different jobs before landing an appearance on the aforementioned show, including work as a door-to-door salesman and in the high stakes world of importing and exporting. Eventually, the talent he showed as a child singing in church led to a gig as a wedding singer, and it was there that he decided to enter the world of reality television. In December of 2004, Delon was named first runner-up on Indonesian Idol, capping off a run that included his performance of songs by Padi, Glenn Fredly, and Clay Aiken. Soon after he appeared at a number of high-profile regional gigs, including opening up for Air Supply. His first album, Bahagaiku, was released later that year. In all, Delon released three albums on his own (he also appeared on handful of soundtracks and compilations), the most recent of which was 2008's Perasaanku. ~ Chris True
