Chairlift

About Chairlift

The dramatic, synth-heavy avant-pop of Chairlift was established by Caroline Polachek, Aaron Pfenning, and eventual third member Patrick Wimberly on their 2008 full-length debut, Does You Inspire You. The project became best known, however, as the Brooklyn-based vehicle of Polachek and Wimberly when, as a duo, second album Something reached the Billboard 200 in 2012. All members were active in other music projects during the band's tenure: Polachek as Ramona Lisa, CEP, and a successful pop and indie songwriter; Wimberly as a chart-topping, Grammy-winning producer; and Pfenning as Rewards. Chairlift officially disbanded a year after the release of their third and poppiest album, 2016's Moth. ~ Marcy Donelson
