As their name declares, no subject is taboo for Bawal Clan. They’ve become one of the most influential voices in Pinoy hip-hop since their 2018 debut, with all 14 members (eight MCs, five DJs) coalescing into a remarkable singular creative body—somehow even greater than its parts—in a rap game often fragmented by the allure of going solo. Everyone’s strengths flow to the fore, resulting in bilingual mastery with pugnacious chest-thumpers (“Yoga Flame”), fiery social critiques (“Pating Sa Kadiliman”), courtship odes (“R U Aaliyah?”) and even exhortations to keep safe (the Ligtas LP).
