Orchestra Baobab lit up Senegal's nightclubs for years with their Afro-Cuban jazz and pop, and their infectious grooves easily carry to the studio. Singing in French and Spanish, the band swings across genres, from sax-driven reggae on "Ngalam" to a touch of King Sunny Ade-styled juju on "Coumba". The extended Latin-jazz workout "Ray M'bele" features a fluid solo from lead guitarist Barthelemy Attisso and the rocking, exuberant wail of Issa Cissoko, whose sax showcases liven up the entire album.
