AFI (A Fire Inside) started out as a hardcore punk band before expanding to alternative territories without sacrificing a drop of emotion or mystery. The band's initial releases were EPs that were sold only during shows before signing to Nitro Records and exploring hardcore, horror punk and death rock. In 2003, AFI found mainstream success with “Girl's Not Grey" and "Silver and Cold". The band's 2006 effort, DECEMBERUNDERGROUND, propelled them to even greater popularity with the songs "Miss Murder" and "Love Like Winter”.
