Hailing from Athens, Greece, Rotting Christ is the rare black metal band that has evolved and expanded its brutal sound over the course of two decades. While the band's career began with a respectably ruthless style of enraged riffs, they gradually imported elements from industrial and doom, and invested more in song structure in melody. Incorporating Gregorian chants on 2007's landmark Theogonia gave the songs a ghostly undertone. Since then, a series of layered and muscular attacks suggest that this band is just entering its prime.
