The Damned: Deep Cuts

The Damned: Deep Cuts

The Damned may have been first to the UK punk party, but they were also the first to leave. Then the real anarchy began: “These Hands” from 1979 is a dose of Syd Barrett-inspired psych lunacy, while 1982's “Don't Bother Me” magically bridges industrial dirge with arch jangle pop. By 1985's church organ-pumped “Sanctum Sanctorium”, they were beating their goth progeny at their own gloomy game.
