

By the time Ryo of Supercell held auditions to select a vocalist for a fictional band in the anime series Guilty Crown, he'd already penned "Departures”, the track that reflects the persona of the main character—including how she was initially based on a goldfish. Then 17-year-old vocalist Chelly was selected from more than 2,000 candidates, as her soft, unique and well-balanced voice fitted the song perfectly. With influences including Japanese traditional music and Western pop styles, the band EGOIST continue to exist in the real world even after the animes ended.
