Politically outspoken, artistically daring, and just plain cool, Colombia's Aterciopelados achieved commercial success throughout Latin America without ever compromising their musically and socially progressive vision. Founded by Andrea Echeverri and Héctor Buitrago in the early '90s, the band first made their name with a peppy sound inspired by alt-rock and punk, but they were soon incorporating regional elements like vallenato and cumbia, and collaborating with the likes of Marc Ribot and Arto Lindsay. Every one of the Latin GRAMMY®-winning outfit's albums is a sonic adventure.
