Centred around the capital Manila, OPM served the Philippines some of its brightest stars in the '80s. The multi-talented Regine Velasquez, Sharon Cuneta, Gary Valenciano and Martin Nievera, alongside bands like Side A, produced the melodies that'd become the decade's classics—soft-spoken, tender ballads sung in Tagalog and English, peppered with upbeat, synth-driven pop in the '80s dance spirit.
