Tomatito Essentials

Tomatito Essentials

Dazzling virtuosity remains the hallmark of Andalusian guitarist José Fernández Torres, better known as Tomatito. He started out as the fleet-fingered sidekick to the great cantaor Camarón de la Isla. But even that prestigious partnership couldn't fully contain the irrepressible Tomatito, who set about smashing the confines of modern flamenco by delving deeper into the gypsy jazz of Stéphane Grappelli and such rhythmic influences as Afro-Cuban funk and bossa nova. A master improviser with a deeply internalised sense of swing, Tomatito remains on nuevo flamenco's cutting edge.
