The Wallflowers Essentials

The Wallflowers Essentials

Sidestepping inevitable comparisons to his father, singer/songwriter/guitarist Jakob Dylan has taken The Wallflowers from '90s alt-rock stars to roots-rock statesmen. Since 1989, Dylan has remained their formidable leader, his smoky rasp and pop sensibility guiding the band through piano-rock burners like early song "Hollywood" and Clash-inspired dub on later groove "Reboot the Mission". In between, they hit a sweet spot with 1996's Bringing Down the Horse, which wooed pop, rock and alternative audiences alike with warm touches of Hammond organ and slide guitar on hits "One Headlight" and "6th Avenue Heartache".
