The Apples in Stereo Essentials

As part of the Elephant 6 family tree with bands like Neutral Milk Hotel and The Olivia Tremor Control, The Apples in Stereo updated the sound of sunny ‘60s pop for the DIY ‘90s. Fronted by singer/songwriter/producer Robert Schneider, the band worship the lush, radio-friendly melodies of The Beatles and The Zombies, transforming them into crisp, psychedelic sing-alongs like “Can You Feel It?” and “Energy”, and crafting subtle Technicolor mood pieces like “Innerspace”. The band's music is so sugary that their power-pop anthem “Signal In the Sky (Let's Go)” appeared in an episode of The Powerpuff Girls.
