Steve Miller Band Essentials

When the Steve Miller Band formed in the mid-‘60s, they were so steeped in the blues that one of their first recordings was made while playing back-up for Chuck Berry. By the early ‘70s, they'd released a string of albums that filtered their bluesy roots through the psychedelic sound of their San Francisco cohorts. 1973's The Joker (and its country-tinged title track) scored the band their first taste of chart-topping success. They followed that breakthrough with tuneful radio rockers like “Take the Money and Run” and “Jet Airliner”, and more progressive, synth-featuring tracks like “Fly Like an Eagle” and “Abracadabra”. Finally, after decades of eligibility, lead singer/guitarist Miller was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016.
