Michael McDonald Essentials

American singer/songwriter Michael McDonald made a name for himself in the '70s as the deep baritone foundation of Californian rockers The Doobie Brothers, having joined in 1977. In 1982 he disbanded the group to go it alone. Applying his soulful voice to soft rock, McDonald went on to win five GRAMMY® Awards and collaborated with legends like Steely Dan, Van Halen, Aretha Franklin and Chaka Khan. His first solo hit was the smooth and funky "I Keep Forgettin' (Every Time You're Near)", which heralded a slew of slinky hits combining blue-eyed soul, R&B and adult contemporary with effortless style.
