Fefe Dobson Essentials

Fefe Dobson emerged as a defiant voice in the pop-punk boom of the early 2000s, ever determined to follow her muse. Born in 1985 in Toronto, Dobson declined offers from pop-oriented labels in her early teens, debuting with a bold, rock-oriented sound on her 2003 self-titled Def Jam debut. The grungy “Take Me Away” and the jangly ballad “Everything” broke her in the U.S. as she became pop royalty in her home country. Dobson’s second official LP, Joy, didn’t emerge until 2010; it featured original, guitar-driven songs and demonstrated a wide swath of musical influences. The trap-inflected pop of “Stuttering” gave her a Canadian Top 40 smash. After dropping her long-shelved 2005 album Sunday Love in 2012, Dobson did not release music until 2022—see her exuberant dance single “FCKN IN LOVE”.
