Fast Animals and Slow Kids Essentials

Fast Animals and Slow Kids took their name from a joke on animated sitcom Family Guy, but the Perugia four-piece's indie rock is decidedly more mature. Their songs drip with earnest emotion—whether they're upbeat and energetic like “Non potrei mai” or more tender and tentative like “Come conchiglie”. Much of that is down to frontman Aimone Romizi’s gravelly vocals and the way he communicates pain and anguish. The band is never too sentimental, though. Rather, their songs serve as acts of defiance, offering much-needed light for the difficulties of life.
