Die Amigos Essentials

Though the two brothers in Die Amigos have played together since 1970, only in recent years have they begun regularly topping German and Austrian album charts. Traditionally folksy like your friendliest uncles, they've got a happy-go-lucky schlager charm suitable for clinking beer steins together. There's also a definite country side—some of their twangier tunes put Nashville and truckers on a pedestal. They dig James Dean too and, as befits their name, Die Amigos work in the occasional Spanish theme as well. But only in Germany could anybody harmonise about traffic jams on the Autobahn.
