Born to bohemian parents—his mum was a Warholian actress, his dad a conductor and string arranger—it makes sense that Beck found inspiration in multiple cultural movements. He's been inspired by classic hip-hop and funk, vintage blues and country music, glam rock and post-punk, psychedelic folk and Brazilian pop. And like Bob Dylan and Prince, he's made an art out of filtering this diverse range of influences through his own unique perspective.
