The Tape-Beatles

About The Tape-Beatles

Like Negativland and People Like Us, the Tape-Beatles are sonic magpies, weaving excerpts of radio shows, news, commercials, films, and TV shows, as well as snippets of old records and pop singles -- with the group's namesake being a favorite target. John Heck, Lloyd Dunn, Paul Neff, and Ralph Johnson are the media manipulators/liberators behind the Tape-Beatles (and their sister project, Public Works), and Soleilmoon/Staalplaat reissued their 1988 album, A Subtle Buoyancy of Pulse, in 1998. ~ Heather Phares
