The Landers

The Landers’ discography charts the evolution of Punjabi pop since the early 2010s, taking in folksy, bhangra-anchored sounds with influences from rap, R&B and other Western pop trends. The trio of Davi Singh, Guri Singh and Sukh Kharoud broke into the Punjabi music scene in 2016 with hit singles “Lander” and “Jail Fail”—both strongly rooted in the traditional instrumentation of dhol and tumbi, with flourishes of dance music. As their popularity grew, they added more variety to their repertoire: “Download”, a club-ready single featuring Punjabi pop star Gurlez Akhter, became a huge hit and hinted at the global sounds the act would explore further in the smooth, honeyed vocal pop of “Heart Patient”, the chamber pop of “Sugar”, the vibrant jazz-hop of “Gustakhiyan” and the bars-heavy “Rule Over”. Their 2023 EP Beyond Belief, a foray into gritty, darkly hued trap and hip-hop, is their most polished and outward-looking release to date.
