About Grey Area

Even though the members of Greyarea have their own history that's placed in New York hardcore, their debut in 1998 released an unexpected twist of driving, melodic pop-punk that doesn't completely sever from their roots. Consisting of ex-Warzone members Vinny Value (drums) and Jay Lehroff (guitar), former Black Train Jack, Token Entry, and In Your Face guitarist Ernie -- just Ernie -- (vocals/guitar), and former Crown of Thorns bassist Steve O'Brien, Greyarea combined their influences of the Bad Brains, Minor Threat, the Cro-Mags, and the Descendants. This mesh would eventually be showcased in early 1999 as Victory Records released Greyarea's self-titled full-length. Their second album, Fanbelt Algebra, followed in the summer of 2000. ~ Mike DaRonco
