Vaya Con Dios are one of the most successful acts ever to emerge from Belgium. Formed in 1986, the band centre around singer/songwriter Dani Klein, whose velvety voice has the range and dexterity to deliver ‘50s pop, old-school Motown and Latin jazz. The gospel rock ballad “What's a Woman” became a hit in 1990 and illustrates the group's trademark luscious production, with tight horns, organs, backing vocals and powerful drums. Gypsy jazz is an influence on “Just a Friend of Mine” with its folky guitars, and on “Pauvre Diable”, which is backed by French accordion.
