Brothers Ray and Dave Davies are renowned as the driving forces behind The Kinks, the London four-piece behind some of the most influential riffs and refrains in British rock history. Fuelled by raw blues, beat music and rock 'n' roll, the band's brash guitar attack was influential in the U.K. and U.S. Vocalist Ray's songwriting eventually took a turn towards the more melodic, as layered production and socially charged themes emerged on Face to Face (1966) and the concept LP Arthur (1969). The pop hits kept coming with 1983's State of Confusion.
