Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings Essentials

The gritty vocals and precise but effortlessly funky instrumentation of Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings established the band and their label, Daptone Records, as the epicentre of the '00s soul revival. They earned a reputation in New York's clubs for their authentic '60s-style funk and soul, which led to their critically acclaimed 2002 debut Dap Dippin' with Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings. The band would go on to back many of producer Mark Ronson's hits, including his Uptown Special album and Amy Winehouse's Back to Black, while Jones sang with Lou Reed, David Byrne and Phish, among others.
