Seer's 2003 album Aufwind has a trippy cover: an epic mountain range splattered in neon yellow and purple. It was a fitting visual analogy for the Grundlsee group that applies crazed, kaleidoscopic colours to traditional Austrian sing-along schlager music. Take the moving "Junischnee", a barn dance that takes a country detour through wild Western steel guitars; or the accordion, synths and skyscraping vocals of blustery ballad "Oma". Decades after forming, Alfred Fred Jaklitsch and his revolving cast of musicians continue to dazzle.
