As a small child, Peppino di Capri sang and played piano to entertain US troops stationed on his native island of Capri, an early sign of the greatness that was to follow. By the late ’50s, he formed The Rockers, igniting dance floors with hits like “Saint-Tropez Twist” and his stirring take on Chubby Checker’s “Let’s Twist Again”. With several decades of music in his career, Capri is an icon known for Neapolitan pop gems and affecting ballads such as the heart-rending “Roberta”, “Se non è amore” and “Nessuno al mondo”.
