Odezenne Essentials

Odezenne met as childhood friends growing up in the south of France. The threesome released a debut of far-reaching indie pop, Sans Chantilly, in 2008. Fusing a wide-ranging palette of contemporary pop, it saw rock, hip-hop and electro weaved together through a polished studio sound. Carrying a knowing self-awareness, their tracks are dotted with nods to their influences—on “Je veux te baiser”, for example, they hark back to Angelo Badalamenti's theme from cult show Twin Peaks; while elsewhere, ‘80s drum machines and boom-bap beats are less explicit allusions to their forebears.
