Originating as a synth-pop duo in Rennes, France, Niagara's singer Muriel Moreno and keyboardist Daniel Chenevez flirted with a faux-African manouche vibe on their catchy, kitschy hit "Tchiki boum". The pair then pivoted to a tough rock sound, exchanging synths for the guitars and hard-riffing horns of "Baby Louis". Niagara pulled out all the stops on their ambitious swan song, the 1992 album La vérité (Truth), which ignited tracks like "Un million d'années" (A Million Years) with a female chorus, a funky clavinet, brash horns and jazz flute.
