More than two decades into their career and Modest Mouse still manage to confound and delight with their line-up changes and ever-evolving sound. It's only fitting that the bands that inform their creative output would be as diverse as their multifaceted albums, from the intense post-hardcore of Fugazi and Sunny Day Real Estate to the jangling indie pop of The Replacements and The Smiths.
