Mc Don Juan started young, as a teen, and channelled his youthful energy into coming up with tracks that take on traditional hip-hop tropes and give them a twist of São Paulo funk. He’s outrageously brazen and, presumably, largely tongue-in-cheek: early release “Eu Sou do Corre” is a scratch-heavy teen boy’s fantasy set to meandering piano. His lyrics and videos come from an adolescent party-hard outlook, but Don Juan’s sense of fun rises to the top—he relies on audacious bursts of brass, rolling drums and boisterous funk to ensure his music is always dance-floor ready.
