Marlango: Influences

Drawing on both traditional blues and brooding alt-rock, Spanish group Marlango have carved out their own niche since the late '90s. They're most obviously influenced by Tom Waits’ whisky-laced growl, taking their name from one of his lyrics, but dig deeper and you'll find nods to jazz vocalists Chet Baker and Ella Fitzgerald, as well as the mariachi-infused Latin rock of bands like Calexico.
