Legendary hip-hop duo Lunatic shaped murky melodies and raw, relentless rhymes from the maelstrom of chaotic energy that marked the golden age of French hip-hop. MCs Booba and Ali connected via influential collective Time Bomb in the early '90s, and were central in sparking a new wave of mastery of French rhyme. As Lunatic their releases were limited, but earned instant iconic status for mixing gangsta beats with rhymes that made mincemeat of the French language. The group disbanded in '03, with Booba rising to become a hip-hop impresario and Ali starting a solo career.
