A rocker of refined beauty and great subtlety, Joseph d'Anvers is also a composer, lyricist and novelist, lending his gifts to respected French artists like Dick Rivers. Three albums with the indie label Atmosphériques saw him pass through emotive narratives retracing chanson and folk, as well as exploring cinematic, uptempo rock rhythms—and a memorable duet with Beastie Boys collaborator Money Mark. His self-produced fourth album Les Matins Blancs came in 2015 to soothe sleepless nights with soft vocals, powerful piano chords and poignant strings, ultimately summoning the first light of dawn.
