Gabriel Rios Essentials

Originally from Puerto Rico, Gabriel Rios became a fixture on the Belgian music scene as an art student in the ‘00s. The singer/songwriter's debut LP Ghostboy and follow-up Angelhead embrace pop with an electronic inflection, illustrated by the spacey keyboards of “Broad Daylight” and the Latin-influenced “Ghostboy”. Rios' high voice can deliver a wide emotional range, including catchy rock on “Straight Song” and an affecting cover of Leonard Cohen's “Hallelujah” alongside Natalia Druyts. Later albums have seen a move towards more revealing and minimalist acoustic ballads such as “Gold”.
