Dillinger Essentials

Dillinger Essentials

At the vanguard of the second wave of Jamaican dancehall deejays, Dillinger (A.K.A. Lester Bullock) followed in the footsteps of pioneers like U Roy, Dennis Alcapone and Big Youth. He worked with a host of legendary producers in the '70s, including Lee "Scratch" Perry, Yabby You, Augustus Pablo and Joseph Hoo Kim. It was with the latter that he recorded the classic CB 200 at Channel One in '76. The album proved to be his international breakthrough and was also a big hit on the nascent U.K. punk scene.
