Claptone Essentials

Never appearing without his golden bird mask, Claptone keeps his identity a closely guarded secret. But there's no hiding the Berlin-based DJ/producer's music. His breakout single, in 2012, sampled a '60s soul number made famous by Wu-Tang Clan, and from there he's continued to fill out his late-night sound with lustrous keys, slow-motion house grooves and basslines that work you over like a full-body massage. His 2015 debut album, Charmer, found him pushing into more song-oriented territory, thanks to cameos from Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and Peter Bjorn and John.
