Chinese Man are a conceptual trip hop group based out of Marseilles. Originally formed by beatmaker Sly and DJs Zé Mateo and High Ku, the group favour retro samples and gut wrenching bass—all wrapped up in a Zen warrior aesthetic. Their debut release, 2005's "The Pandi Groove EP", included reggae, baile funk and hip-hop influences and was followed by the sensational "Groove Sessions" compilation. The group have since established their own record label—Chinese Man Records—to release solo material, while also collaborating with other artists form the south of France.
