The Buttholes are psychedelic punks whose vision is as expansive as it is bonkers. Their core sound rests upon an equally intense love for chugging space rock (Hawkwind), virulently anti-establishment hardcore (Dead Kennedys) and sludgy '70s metal (Black Sabbath). Meanwhile, their use of brain-frying effects echoes the sinister sound collages heard on early albums from The Residents.
