Boudewijn de Groot Essentials

A soft voice, gentle orchestral melodies and hard-hitting political messages are Dutch legend Boudewijn de Groot's trademarks. With lyricist Lennaert Nijgh in 1960, he helped to comprise an intelligent body of work that encompasses protest songs, love songs and examinations of the Dutch national psyche. Having defined the '60s and '70s with his music, de Groot turned to acting and film scores before enjoying chart success again from 1997, when the airy track “Avond” (“Evening”) was named Best Single of All Time in a Dutch radio poll.
