Boris Essentials

Since 1996, the Japanese experimental rock group Boris have recorded at a relentless pace, often delivering more than one album in a year and never staying in one place too long. As a result, they've covered a lot of ground. When they feel like it, they can make a convincing case for themselves as one of the heaviest, most intimidating groups around with discordant doom-stompers like "Akuma No Uta" and "Blackout", but they can also make danceable New Wave that threatens to fall apart on the dance floor ("Flare") and undulating, frayed dream pop ("Rainbow") that hits just as hard.
