The Chicago Loop

Former folk singers Judy Navy (b. 18 January 1946, Chicago, Illinois, USA) and Bob Slawson (b. 14 November 1945, Cincinnati, Ohio, USA) formed the Chicago Loop in 1966. The group was completed by Carmen Riole (b. 22 July 1945, Greenwich, Connecticut, USA; bass), Jack Siomoms (b. 30 July 1947; drums) and Barry Goldberg (b. 1941, Chicago, Illinois, USA; piano) who had recently dissolved his Blues Band. Bob Crewe produced the group’s releases which began with a spirited reading of ‘(When She Needs Good Lovin’) She Comes To Me’, originally recorded by the Coasters. Mike Bloomfield supplied the single’s expressive fretwork before a permanent guitarist, John Savanna (b. 6 June 1945, Bronx, New York, USA) was added to the line-up. Subsequent recordings lacked the purpose of that debut-offering. In 1967 Goldberg left to join Bloomfield in the embryonic Electric Flag, and the Chicago Loop broke up soon afterwards.
