Raoul Vignal

A singer and songwriter from Lyon, France, Raoul Vignal plays music rooted in the sound and traditions of folk using a sophisticated jazz approach. His songs (performed in English) are personal and low-key; he prefers a whisper to a shout as he bares his soul, and his deft, fingerpicked guitar lends an absorbing, mildly hypnotic tone to his songs. Vignal's first full-length release, 2017's The Silver Veil, was spare and straightforward, with his voice and guitar dominating the arrangements, while 2018's Oak Leaf was a more confident variation on the same theme. 2021's Years in Marble found Vignal adopting a less-casual, more full-bodied sound that explored adult relationships and the flaws of humanity with tuneful accompaniment.
