About Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi

The Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi, though relatively new, has become one of Italy's leading ensembles focusing on instrumental music rather than opera. The Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi was founded in 1993 by conductor Vladimir Delman. An associated choir, the Coro Sinfonico Giuseppe Verdi di Milano, was formed in 1998. In 1999, Riccardo Chailly became the orchestra's first music director, and the following year, the orchestra made its recording debut with the album Giuseppe Verdi: Heroines. The orchestra maintained a vigorous recording career; it was heard on a dozen albums in 2003 alone. Claus Peter Flor became music director in 2017; as of the mid-2020s, he held the post of direttore emerito, and the orchestra's resident conductor is Andrey Boreyko. It issued an album devoted to the orchestral music of Franco Alfano in 2024, with Giuseppe Grazioli as conductor.
